Three-Month Human Rights Monitoring Report on Bangladesh: January-March 2023

The human rights violations in the first three months of 2023 are a continuation of the human rights violations that have been going on for the past 14 years. After the current Awami League government came to power in 2009, it has been using all the state institutions, including the Election Commission, the Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Human Rights Commission, to implement its political agenda.

Odhikar has been facing extreme state repression and harassment since 2013 while carrying out its human rights activities. Despite ongoing state harassment and obstructions, Odhikar continues to highlight human rights violations. In this adverse situation, Odhikar has prepared the human rights report for the first three months of 2023, based on reports sent by the human rights defenders associated with it and data published in various media.
