On April 17-18, 2015 Odhikar in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland organised a two-day long National Conference of Human Rights Defenders at the HOPE Foundation in Savar, Dhaka. The Conference was presided by Odhikar’s Executive Committee Member and women rights activist Farida Akhter and moderated by its Secretary Adilur Rahman Khan. The Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy Caroline Trautweiler, poet and political thinker Farhad Mazhar, columnist and senior journalist Mahfuz Ullah and General Secretary of the Revolutionary Workers’ Party, Saiful huq were present in the conference as guests of honour. A total of 85 participants, including 58 grassroots level HRDs attended the conference.
