Municipality Elections 2015 : Odhikar Report

The Municipality elections were marked with widespread incidents of capturing polling centres casting fake votes and violence on December 30, 2015. Despite being registered with the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC), it did not allow Odhikar to formally observe the Municipality Elections of 2015. Being denied official permission to monitor the municipality polls, Odhikar sought to collect information from human rights defenders affiliated to Odhikar, who work for different media houses. Upon approval from local administration, these journalists collected information by monitoring the overal electoral situation, particularly incidents of electoral violence inside and outside polling centres in 48 municipalities.
